No Grudges, Just Love: A Letter to Those Afraid to Ask for Help

Dear friend,
If you’ve ever felt hesitant to ask for help—whether from divinity, angels, or even those closest to you—this letter is for you.

Have you ever carried the weight of life’s struggles, convinced you had to handle it all on your own? Or felt that asking for help might make you seem weak, unworthy, or… just not enough? And if you’re anything like me, there’s a part of you that worries about gratitude—Am I thankful enough? Am I doing my part?

I’ve been there. I’ve sat in that quiet discomfort, wondering if reaching out would somehow make me seem selfish or ungrateful. I remember once feeling ashamed to ask for divine help, thinking I hadn’t done enough or shown enough gratitude to deserve it. In one of my lowest moments, I confided in a very dear friend of mine, pouring out my fears of not being worthy. She told me something that has stayed with me ever since:

Divinity loves us like a parent loves their newborn baby.

She said, “A newborn doesn’t have to do anything to earn love. They cry, they struggle, they make mistakes—and yet they are loved simply for being.” While these may not have been her exact words, the essence was clear: Back HOME, there is no good or bad, no right or wrong—there are only experiences. Every single day is a new beginning, where we are just loved and supported, no matter what. Her words opened my eyes to a truth I had forgotten: that divine love is unconditional. It doesn’t keep score, hold grudges, or demand perfection.

The Fear of Asking

Let’s talk about that fear—the one that whispers you should already have it figured out. That fear often shows up as shame. It says things like:

  • “I should be strong enough to handle this.”
  • “If I ask for help, it means I’ve failed.”
  • “What if I’m not doing enough to deserve this support?”

This voice, though loud, isn’t truth. It’s a story we’ve picked up from a world that equates worth with accomplishment, forgetting that worth is intrinsic. Your worth isn’t tied to how much you’ve done, how “strong” you’ve been, or whether you’ve made enough offerings of gratitude. It simply is.

Divinity—whatever that means to you—loves you unconditionally. Just as my friend reminded me, think of that newborn baby: they don’t need to earn love. Their cries don’t burden their caregivers. They are simply loved for being. And that’s how divinity sees you: as pure, whole, and always deserving of support.

Gratitude vs. Worthiness

One of the biggest blocks to asking for help is the fear that we haven’t shown enough gratitude. We worry that we’re “taking advantage” of divine love, or that we’re not giving enough back. But gratitude isn’t about proving worthiness; it’s about connection.

We tell ourselves, ‘I haven’t done enough. I haven’t been enough.’ But these are stories, not truths. Divine love isn’t earned; it’s simply given, without hesitation. Gratitude is beautiful, but it’s not a condition for love. The universe doesn’t tally how many times you’ve said ‘thank you.’ It doesn’t shut its doors if you forget to meditate or miss a prayer. Divine love is infinite, constant, and unconditional.

How to Ask Without Fear

If you’re feeling stuck, here’s a gentle way to open the door:

  1. Visualize a Loving Presence: Close your eyes and imagine sitting across from someone who loves you deeply. This could be a guide, an angel, or simply a warm light. Picture them smiling at you, fully present and ready to listen.
  2. Speak Freely: Share what’s on your heart as if talking to a trusted friend. There are no rules. You can cry, whisper, or even shout if you need to. Divinity welcomes it all.
  3. Trust the Process: Trust that your words are heard, even if the response doesn’t come right away. Sometimes the support arrives in unexpected ways—a kind gesture, a moment of clarity, or the courage to keep moving forward.

Or if you prefer writing, try this:

  • Write a letter to your guides or the universe. Pour everything onto the page—your fears, hopes, doubts, and dreams. Then let it go, trusting that the act of asking is enough.

A Loving Reminder

You don’t have to be perfect to ask for help. You don’t need to “have it all together” or prove your worthiness. The universe doesn’t demand perfection; it celebrates your humanity.

If you’re reading this, take it as a sign that you’re not alone. There is always someone—whether divine or human—ready to hold you in love and light. All you need to do is ask.

No matter where you are on your journey, know this: you are enough, you are loved, and you are never, ever a burden.

What’s one thing you’ve been afraid to ask for? Take a moment today to reach out—whether to divinity, your guides, or someone close to you—and let yourself be supported. You deserve it.

With all my heart,
Your slightly chaotic but loving companion on this spiritual journey, who doesn’t have it all together but believes in the power of love, hoping my stumbles can still spark a little light.

P.S. If this post made you think, smile, or feel understood, share it with someone who could use a reminder of just how loved they are. Or just drop a thought in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
